Last week, the U. S. Food and Drug Administration began a study on the use of Doxycycline (doxyfluride), a prescription medication prescribed for the treatment of Lyme disease.
In the study published today in the journal PLOS ONE, researchers found that dosing a single dose of 200 mg twice a day was not associated with an increased risk of Lyme disease. They also found that the dose was not associated with an increased risk of severe Lyme disease, which could be due to several factors, including a history of gastrointestinal disease and the use of antibiotics.
In the study, the researchers tracked the number of people living in areas where dosing of 100 mg twice a day was considered the most effective in controlling the disease. The researchers said that the study did not show that doxycycline was an effective antibiotic in the treatment of Lyme disease. In addition, they noted that patients in the study who were prescribed doxycycline for Lyme disease had a higher chance of getting severe symptoms from the infection.
